MFG wills promotion raises charity cash

Worcestershire law firm MFG Solicitors is making sure it does not lose sight of the needs of charities during the current difficult economic times.
It has raised £3,620 for Sight Concern Worcestershire, the former Worcestershire Association for the Blind.
It followed a month-long wills promotion organised by the firm across its Bromsgrove, Worcester and Kidderminster offices.
The total fees paid by all those who signed up – £60 per person and £85 for a couple – went into the gift pot.
Assistant solicitor Tracy Parry, who organised the event, said: “We cannot emphasise how important it is for people to make a will.
“It makes it so much easier for family and relatives to deal with the deceased’s affairs at a deeply emotional time.
“And when once a year we particularly look to highlight our will services we always try and link it in with a charity. We were very pleased to be able to help Sight Concern Worcestershire, which does such tremendous work in the community.”
Alice Watts, SCW publicity manager, said: “This is a fantastic gesture from MFG Solicitors and very much appreciated.
“This tremendous donation will support our work in helping so many needy people.”
Sight Concern is based at The Bradbury Centre, 2 Sansome Walk, Worcester, where facilities include a large hall, conference room, fully equipped kitchen, craft room, woodworking room, gym, computer teaching room plus various other teaching and learning areas.
Formed 80 years ago it is an independent charity that provides support, information and services to people affected by sight loss across the county.
Activities take in braille, word processing, typing, crafts and woodwork.
On average 169 people attend the centre on a weekly basis. The charity also runs a home visiting service with the help of volunteers.
Every day 100 people in the UK start to lose their sight – one in 60 people in the country has some kind of sight loss.
