Family Law Division
Robert is a Partner within mfg’s Family Division and has been with mfg since qualifying as a Solicitor in 1981.
Robert has accumulated vast experience as a Specialist Family Lawyer during his 35 years post qualification (having previously trained to become a Solicitor at a firm in Cardiff). During this time he has developed experience in dealing with all aspects of Family Law including divorce and financial Orders arising from divorce including maintenance, lump sum provision, property adjustment, pension sharing Orders, Cohabitation disputes, Pre-Nuptial Agreements and Domestic Violence Injunctions.
Robert has a particular interest in representing parents, grandparents and other relatives in disputes over children, including in relation to Child Arrangement Orders (Residence/Contact), Prohibited Steps Orders, Specific Issue Orders, Special Guardianship Orders and Parental Responsibility Orders.
He also has experience of representing parents in relation to Applications for financial provision/settlement of property in relation to children and successfully represented a mother in a landmark case of J –v- C which is among the leading cases extending the law on financial provision for children. This case was referred to in December 2014 by the Court of Appeal in a case against a very wealthy father from a member of a Middle Eastern ruling Country.
Robert prides himself on paying close attention to detail in the knowledge that thorough preparation helps client achieve the best possible outcome. As a member of Resolution he aims to help clients achieve a fair and just result adopting an amicable and constructive approach whilst using his skills as a litigator towards obtaining a fair outcome.
Robert has personally conducted Fully Contested Finding of Fact Hearings in cases concerning disputes over child contact involving issues over domestic abuse/violence.
He also has particular experience of conducting difficult children disputes where serious safeguarding issues have been involved including domestic abuse, alcohol/drug abuse and mental health issues and issues involving ill treatment/abuse of children.
In addition, Robert has considerable experience of having acted for parents, grandparents and other relatives within Care proceedings.
Over the years Robert has helped a number of clients obtain positive Orders settling residence and contact Orders in their favour following difficult disputes over child’s welfare and also Orders in favour of grandparents and other relatives.
Robert has experience of conducting claims under the Children Act Schedule 1 in respect of financial provision for children including Lump Sum and Property Settlement Orders.

Robert is a member of Resolution. Robert has also personally managed the firm’s Quality mark involving the Specialist Quality Mark over the last several years. Robert also arranged for mfg to become members of The Grandparents Association Lawyer’s List.
I am married and have 2 sons. I enjoy walking, running and am a lifelong supporter of Bristol City Football Club. I have been a member of Wrekin Road Runners for over 15 years and have taken part in marathons in Birmingham, Edinburgh and London, raising funds for Charity.
