Marathon Challenge for Bromsgrove Lawyer

  • Posted

A lawyer from Bromsgrove is not just going the extra mile for his clients, he is running 26.2 of them.

Darryll Thomas from High Street-based mfg Solicitors is to take on the gruelling London Marathon in aid of the Stroke Association, for whom he acts.

The father of two decided to run the marathon because the Stroke Association relies on fundraising for 70% of its income, with the world famous London race being its biggest event.

Darryll, an associate solicitor and specialist in employment law, wants to help the Stroke Association build on the success of its first Life After Stroke Centre, which opened in Bromsgrove in 2012.

He will join approximately 38,000 runners on the start line on Sunday 24 April and is aiming to raise £500.

Darryll said: “I’ve worked with the Stroke Association for a while and know how important it is that they raise enough funds to support people coping with the effects of such sudden and debilitating health challenges.

“I enjoy running and keeping myself fit, but a marathon is one of the most arduous tests of stamina there is. Knowing that I’m helping such a great cause will keep me going over those 26 long miles and the more I can encourage people to dig deep and sponsor me, the more determined I’ll be.”

Strokes are the third largest cause of death in the UK and affect one person every five minutes. Survivors can find they take a devastating toll on their lives, leaving many disabled or dependent on others for help.

The Stroke Association supports survivors throughout their recovery and beyond.
