mfg Solicitors adds further expertise to growing employment and HR team

  • Posted

Midland law firm mfg Solicitors has strengthened its employment and HR services division with the appointment of a new partner.

Widely-regarded employment law specialist Chris Piggott has joined mfg and will be based at the firm’s Adam House headquarters in Kidderminster – reporting to partner and head of department, Sally Morris.

Recognised as a leader in his field by the Legal 500 – the prestigious guide to the UK’s best lawyers and firms – Chris has built up an admired reputation across the region since qualifying in 1995.

Acting for numerous established UK businesses – ranging from small enterprises through to major corporate PLCs – on key employee-relations issues including TUPE transfers and organisational change, Chris is also a regular trainer to organisations on employment law and HR practices.

As a partner, he will now support Ms Morris in bolstering the firm’s high profile employment and HR presence in the West Midlands.

Sally Morris said: “Chris has an immense reputation not just here in the West Midlands, but across the country.

“He is exactly the type of person we want as part of the team at mfg. He has extensive experience, is well respected and is someone who always puts clients and their interests first.

“As an employment and HR services department we are thriving and working in partnership with more West Midlands businesses than ever before. Chris will be key in terms of enhancing those existing relations and developing relationships with new clients. He is already proving to be a tremendous addition to mfg.”

Chris Piggott added: “mfg Solicitors have been going from strength to strength in recent years and looking from the outside in you cannot fail to notice their consistent growth, ambition and credentials.

“Sally has developed a dynamic regional employment team to rival city practices. I am very much looking forward to being part of the team and making a contribution in the months and years ahead.”

Mr Piggott’s appointment comes only four months since mfg announced the appointment of Samantha Haller-Evans as HR services manager – the first non-lawyer to join the team. Her appointment has led to a steep upturn in the number of clients mfg now advises on general HR issues.

The firm’s employment and HR services department now has a team of six which includes two partners and two assistant solicitors.
