Our Construction and engineering team advises on a range of non-contentious construction matters and construction disputes.
We help clients de-risk construction and engineering projects, whether it’s an energy project, utility works, construction of new housing and commercial schemes or working on a heritage building. In construction, time, cost and quality are the three main drivers for any project; and the same goes for the quality of legal support that is required.
We believe that a comprehensive understanding of the construction industry coupled with strong commercial awareness is essential to identify project risks and provide focussed legal advice to our construction clients.
The team is particularly highly regarded for its work in the energy and renewables space, heritage buildings and strategic land development.
Non-contentious (transactional) Construction:
We support clients across the construction and engineering sector with the negotiation of contracts for a wide range of projects from energy projects, utility works, construction of new housing and commercial schemes to works on a heritage building.
The team routinely advises clients on all major industry standard forms of documentation including JCT, NEC, FIDIC, iChemE, MF/1. Although you may start with a standard form of contract each project is bespoke and the final contract must reflect this. We help clients work through the risk matrix for each project and identify which form of contract will serve their needs and where further amendment is required to achieve a contract as bespoke as the project.
And where the need arises we are more than happy to assist our clients in developing a wide spectrum of bespoke agreements from appointments and frameworks to bespoke EPCs for the installation of process plants.
We also understand that experience of what can go wrong and lead to disputes in the construction sector instructs what needs to be considered when negotiating contracts.
Construction and Engineering Disputes:
When things go wrong mfg's contentious construction team specialises in the resolution of construction and engineering disputes.
We have extensive experience in a range of disputes, from payment, claims for delay to defects in quality, workmanship or design on complex energy projects.
We appreciate that resolution of a dispute requires more than just ‘knowing the law’ but an understanding of all the issues that lead to the dispute (especially where of a technical nature) and an appreciation of the right outcome for your business.
