Are the Courts open during lockdown?

The Courts are still operating however, they are not open to the public. This means that you do not need to attend court unless you have been instructed to do so by the Court.

Can I still file documents?

You can still file documents by post and by email however, the courts are experiencing back-logs and delayed processing times as they have been working on a skeleton staff basis. If you need to speak with the Court then you can telephone the Court during the usual opening times.

Are hearings still going ahead?

It is important that you speak with the Court and find out what is happening with any hearing that you have listed. A large number of hearings have either been vacated to be re-listed on a future date or they are taking place by telephone where it is suitable to do so. Some urgent hearings are still going ahead.

The Court will contact you prior to the hearing to confirm whether it is going ahead by telephone. It is important that you ensure that you have provided the correct contact details to the Court. It is also important to note that when the Court calls you, it is likely that the screen will show ‘No Caller ID’.
