Blonde ambition helps raise £1,775 for Severn Hospice

  • Posted

A team of solicitors from Telford law firm mfg Solicitors have raised over £1,700 for Severn Hospice after taking part in the charity’s annual boat race.

The 16-strong crew competed against dozens of teams in front of thousands of spectators, finishing 16th in the popular event, which was held between Pengwern and Shrewsbury School Boat Clubs.

Raising exactly £1,775 for the much-loved charity, the team added to the occasion by dressing up as Legally Blonde movie character, Elle Woods.

Jack Robinson from mfg Solicitors said: “The Severn Hospice Dragon Boat Race is a huge event in the Shropshire charity calendar, so we’re delighted to have played our part.

“Severn Hospice was our Telford office Charity of the Year and taking part in this year’s boat race followed shortly after we sponsored the 2026 Pondesbury Potter walk.

“It was a great day and amazing to see thousands turning out to support the hospice and to celebrate the incredible work they do. It’s also inspiring to see so many local businesses taking part and coming together for the community. It is, and always will be, such a special day for the charity.”

Holly Gibbons, Severn Hospice’s Corporate Fundraiser added: “We’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone at mfg Solicitors for their support at this year’s Dragon Boat Festival. Not only did the team throw themselves into the racing, but their memorable fancy dress theme also brought plenty of colour and fun to the day, while helping to raise an impressive amount for our services.

“All of our care is provided free of charge and is only made possible through the commitment and generosity of our local community and businesses like mfg Solicitors. We’re so grateful for their support that enables us to continue providing specialist, compassionate care to local families when it matters most.”

Severn Hospice provides free specialist care and support to thousands of families across Shropshire and Mid Wales every year. To find out more readers can access the charity’s website through www.severnhospice.org.uk
