mfg celebrates standout year in Chambers and Legal 500 rankings

  • Posted

mfg Solicitors is celebrating another highly successful year in the UK’s leading independent legal directories, with teams and lawyers across the firm recognised in the latest Chambers and Partners and Legal 500 rankings.

The firm enjoyed particularly strong results in the 2026 Chambers and Partners guide, with its Corporate team moving up to Band 2 in the West Midlands, while Commercial Property was ranked for the first time, entering at Band 4. Agriculture and Rural Affairs retained its Band 1 ranking, with Family, Employment and Litigation also maintaining their established positions.

There was also a significant increase in individual recognition across the firm. Ben Rothery entered the Chambers rankings for the first time at Band 4, while Laura Moore and Hannah Taylor were both recognised as Associates to Watch. Gurdip Brring returned to the rankings at Band 3 and Tim Lang was newly ranked at Band 4.

A further highlight saw Richard Port achieve Band 1 recognition nationally as a DEI Champion, alongside his Band 3 individual ranking. The specialist DEI recognition reflects contributions by lawyers who go beyond their day-to-day practice through work with an altruistic element.

A number of established mfg lawyers also maintained their Chambers rankings, including Iain Morrison at Band 1, Alexandra Phillips and Clare Lang at Band 2, Tom Bell and Katherine Tippetts at Band 3, and Sally Morris and Sam Pedley at Band 4.

The Chambers results follow an equally strong showing in the 2026 Legal 500, where a record 18 mfg solicitors and departments were recognised, comprising nine individuals and nine specialist teams.

Among the departmental successes, Agriculture and Rural Affairs retained its Tier 1 status, held since 2021, while Family maintained the Tier 1 ranking it secured in 2025. Contentious Trusts and Probate, Commercial Property and Commercial Litigation retained Tier 2 rankings, with Personal Tax, Trusts and Probate in Tier 3 and Employment and Property Litigation in Tier 4. The Corporate team also moved up to Tier 3, underlining the progress recognised independently by both major guides this year.

Individual Legal 500 recognition included Sally Morris, Sam Pedley and Alexandra Phillips as Leading Partners, while Andrew Chandler, Sian Kenkre and David Raymont were again named Next Generation Partners. Hannah Taylor was named a Leading Associate for the first time, with Rebecca Rogers also retaining her individual recognition.

Andrew Davies, managing director of mfg Solicitors, said:

“It has been an exceptional year for the firm in both Chambers and Partners and the Legal 500. What is particularly pleasing is the breadth of the recognition, with established teams maintaining strong positions alongside several departments and individuals moving up or being recognised for the first time.

“These rankings are based heavily on independent research and feedback, so they are a real endorsement of the quality of our people and the service they provide to clients across the region.

“Congratulations to everyone recognised and, just as importantly, to the wider teams whose hard work sits behind these results.”
