Experienced partner adds expertise to Shropshire law firm's employment team

  • Posted

County law firm mfg Solicitors has strengthened its leading employment and commercial services offering in Shropshire with the appointment of a new partner.

Widely-regarded expert Chris Piggott has joined to lead employment and HR services in the firm’s Telford and Ludlow offices. Working alongside partner and departmental head, Sally Morris, his appointment will compliment the firm’s established commercial offering across the county.

Recognised as a leader in his field by the Legal 500, Chris has built an admired reputation since qualifying 20 years ago.

Acting for a variety of major corporate PLCs and small enterprises on employee-relations issues including TUPE transfers and organisational change, Chris is also a sought-after trainer to organisations on employment law and HR practices.

Sally Morris said: “Chris has an immense reputation not just here in Shropshire but across the whole of the country.

“He is exactly the type of person we want as part of the leadership team at mfg. He has extensive experience, is well respected, and is someone who always puts clients and their interests first.

“As a firm we are thriving and working in partnership with more Shropshire businesses than ever before. Chris will be key in terms of enhancing those existing relations and is already proving to be a tremendous addition.”

Chris Piggott added: “mfg Solicitors have been going from strength to strength in recent years and looking from the outside in you cannot fail to notice the firm’s ambition, credentials and the growth in commercial clients and business services it provides across its commercial and property divisions.

“Over several years Sally has developed a dynamic employment team to rival city practices and I look forward to making a contribution in the years ahead.”

Mr Piggott’s appointment comes as mfg expands its commercial and employment and HR offering. Earlier this year associate Darryll Thomas joined from The Wilkes Partnership while last year HR services manager Samantha Haller-Evans joined to assist SMEs in the county with an outsourced HR service.

Associate Jennifer Hicks-Hadley adds further strength to the commercial property team working alongside experienced partner, Michael Payne. Alongside the business, employment and HR support, mfg’s Shropshire team also provides advice on commercial property matters, dispute resolution, and corporate and commercial services.
