Midlands law firm mfg Solicitors has significantly boosted its corporate offering with the appointment of leading corporate lawyer Laura Charles as a partner.

Respected company law specialist Laura joins mfg after a lengthy career at international law firm Gowling WLG, where she advised organisations and investors on a variety of corporate transactions. Laura will work closely with partner and head of department Clare Lang, alongside experienced partners Stephen Wyer and James Hayes.

Based at the firm’s Birmingham city centre offices, Laura will focus on the growth of mfg’s corporate client base and connections, whilst bringing further strength and expertise to its corporate offering. Laura’s specialisms include mergers and acquisitions, business and asset disposals, management buy-outs, investments, joint ventures and indirect real estate transactions.

Clare Lang, partner and head of the Corporate department at mfg Solicitors said: “Laura not only has first-class credentials but a strategic and practical approach which will allow us to add real value for our clients. I am delighted to welcome her to the firm and she is adding to what is already a highly-regarded team across the region’s corporate sector.

“For nearly 20 years Laura has successfully worked closely with a range of regional, national and international clients on transactions ranging in value across a variety of sectors. That also includes a period as an in-house solicitor for a multinational aerospace and defence company, which helps bring a fresh and different perspective.

“Ultimately, she has the focus, vision and professionalism we look for in a partner and is already making a brilliant impact within the firm and with our clients.”

Laura Charles added: “Joining Clare, Stephen, James and the rest of the team at mfg Solicitors presents an exciting opportunity for me to develop our corporate offering in Birmingham and the wider region, working with new and existing clients and contacts, but also collaborating closely with our other departments across the firm.

“You cannot fail to notice the extensive growth steps the firm and the department have made over the past decade. That is only set to continue as there is huge ambition, but also a genuine focus on quality and achieving the right results for clients.”

Highly ranked in the Legal 500, the Corporate team at mfg Solicitors offer a variety of advice and support, including on large and small scale corporate transactions, acquisitions and disposals, succession planning, joint ventures, reorganisations, and a host of commercial contract-related advice.
