  • Posted

Seven expert solicitors from a single West Midlands law firm have been named among the best in the business by the prestigious Legal 500.

Partner Robert Weston and colleagues from mfg Solicitors are all graded highly in their various specialisms with the firm as a whole recommended to potential clients in no fewer than eight practice areas.

For the second year running Mr Weston, who carries a national reputation for his handling of intricate contentious trusts and probate cases, has been recommended in the top tier of solicitors in the country by the Legal 500 – the 27th edition of the legal profession’s referral guide.

The firm’s commercial litigation credentials have also been recognised with partner Tom Esler and associate Samuel Pedley both being singled out for praise. Partner Kirsten Bridgewater, who heads the rural dispute side of mfg’s litigation division, was also listed.

Respected rural and farming specialist, partner Iain Morrison, was named again for his expertise while partner and head of the firm’s family division, Claire Backler was recommended along with fellow partner Alison Webber for their work on complex matrimonial cases.

Aside from the seven lawyers named by the Legal 500, the firm, which has eight offices across Worcestershire and Shropshire are recommended for corporate and commercial work, licensing, dispute resolution, employment, agriculture and estates, family, personal tax, trusts and probate and commercial property.

Maynard Burton, partner and chairman of mfg Solicitors, said: “The Legal 500 is held in high regard across the legal industry and acts as a trusted guide to people and businesses looking for the best legal support.

“To have seven of our team listed this year is superb and to maintain a first tier ranking for our expertise in contentious trust and probate matters is testament to the dedication and professionalism of Robert Weston.

“Being included in this year’s guide underlines the hard work and dedication of everyone who works at the firm, especially with so many areas of the law we specialise being highly recommended by our peers in the profession.”

Over 250,000 corporate counsel were interviewed across the world during the past 12 months to produce the 2014 Legal 500. Firms and lawyers are recommended purely on merit.
