We are an expanding Commercial Litigation team with expertise in both high value complex disputes and general business disputes. Our awarding solicitors have a reputation for their business acumen and no-nonsense approach.
The Commercial Litigation team is led by Legal Director Rebecca Rogers. Rebecca is highly experienced in complex business disputes; and has a particular interest in building and construction disputes.
Rebecca has been named as a Leading Associate by the Legal 500 2025. She is known for negotiating early settlements for clients and avoiding expensive litigation. Clients praise Rebecca for her “refreshing” approach; and her patience, dedication and resourcefulness.
Partner Tom Esler is a hugely experienced specialist litigator and is also member of the firm’s restructuring and insolvency team. His focus is on disputes involving shareholders and directors of owner-managed businesses, however complex the issues.
Tom has a strong practice working with businesses in Healthcare, including dentists and GP surgeries; and in the Food and Drink sector. He is, say clients, “extremely knowledgeable” and “a huge support at a difficult time”.
Samuel Pedley, partner and the firm’s Head of Litigation, acts for medium to large business organisations across a range of commercial disputes, debt recovery and insolvency matters. Samuel has been with the firm since qualifying in 2007. He is named as a Leading Partner in the 2025 Legal 500 guide; and noted in the Chambers 2016 legal director as a “rising star”. Clients described him as a “really good and smooth operator”; “a pleasure to work with” and “energetic and very hard-working”.
Associate solicitor Rachel Gill specialises in commercial debt recovery and civil claims. She has a particular focus on breach of contract, misrepresentation, professional negligence and consumer matters.
Rachel is also experienced in Property Litigation and well-equipped to help commercial landlords and tenants with dilapidation and service charge claims, breach of covenant and rent arrears. She is known for achieving early, cost-effective resolution outside of the courtroom. Clients describe Rachel as “completely committed… realistically reassuring” and “astute”.
Ian Sheppard joined the commercial litigation team in January 2026 as a Senior Associate. He has over 20 years experience in all types of civil and commercial disputes. Ian has advised individuals and large corporate clients in matters such as shareholder/partnership disputes, contractual disputes and professional negligence claims often with a property element involved.
Reuben Grimshaw qualified with mfg Solicitors in September 2024 and quickly became an established member of the commercial litigation team. Reuben is particularly known for his commercial awareness. Clients testify to the first class service Reuben and the team provide.
Chianna Weaver is a solicitor apprentice in the commercial litigation department. Though Chianna is not due to qualify until March 2027 - clients have already noted her “consummate professionalism” and that she does “above and beyond”.
Our two trainee solicitors, Asifur Rahman and Alena Dudrah are a valuable part of our team. Both expect to qualify in 2027.
